The Client Getting Strategy Most Coaches Overlook
Being a “Pick me” for Google
Deep down you probably know that a client getting strategy can seem a bit like a horrible game of ‘pick me’.
There’s not often a time nor place in life or business for being a ‘pick me’ – but the one time you are allowed to give them exactly what they want to see is when you’re courting those clever machines over at Google HQ – a strategy most coaches overlook!
When most coaches start their business, they get certified, get a website as fast as they can – and get on Social Media.
But they’ve missed a huge step in terms of wooing Google. So let’s dive in and explain what’s been missed and how to fix it – so you can use the strategy that most online business owners overlook.
Building the Foundations
I get it, I really do. Nothing makes you feel more like you’re running a bona fide business than having a website – but there’s more to your website than what you see when you’re looking at it from the comfort of your home office or sending it by WhatsApp to your BFF so she can take a look on her phone.
It’s the bits you can’t see – but Google can!
If you built your website yourself, well first off – huge congratulations to you as it’s a momentous task and you should be very proud of yourself – especially if you’re not particularly techie.
If you paid someone to build your site for you – again, that’s great. You have a working site which looks great!

Trouble is – with all the best intentions in the world – was your site built to meet Google’s expectations – or what you thought would look appealing in your buyer’s eyes?
Most modern CMS (Content Management System – a fancy-shmancy word for the backbone software your website is built on) are built to be SEO friendly and in turn; Google friendly.
You probably added a couple of bits yourself when you built it – or your web designer put in the very basics for you – but now there’s a gap. An invisible gap, but a gap nonetheless.
Getting Ahead of Other Coaches
This is the bit where most coaches essentially toss their website away and use it as a brochure or somewhere to integrate their payment system.
Because they’re so busy trying to win clients over on the socials, they’re neglecting this piece of real estate which has a direct hotline to Google.
So you need to ask yourself – do you want to show up daily putting in the work on Social Media to advertise themselves – or… would you rather have the almighty power of Google do your marketing for you because it’s the client getting strategy you can’t afford to miss.
When you see it in black and white like that, it seems like an obvious choice – and yet most coaches choose not to go down this route because the chitter-chatter in online business is that you absolutely must market on Socials.

But… and I know you know this to be true – business existed millennia before Social Media came along and there are many, many right now today who are doing very well without Socials.
If everyone else is zigging – you gotta zag – and if you want to get ahead of the herd, then you’ve got to get Google working for you.

All you gotta do is play a little game of ‘pick me‘ – with a lot less gaslighting!
Because the thing is – Google don’t even hide what they want for you. Well… they do kinda hide it in some dreary, grey documentation which has all the reading appeal of an instruction manual on how to change a carburetter of a car… but – it’s right there for you.
All you need to do is what they ask you to do – and I can help you do that because I will dig through those dreary documents they produce to pull out the nuggets you need to know.
